Democrats of St. Mary's County Maryland

On November 4th, voters will have the chance to vote on a Ballot Initiative to legalize slot machines.

For every $100 dollars put into a slot machine:
- $87.00 goes to pay operating expenses, including payoffs to the lucky winners
- $ 6.31 goes to Education Trust Fund
- $ 4.29 goes to video lottery operating licensees.
- 91.0 cents go to horse racing purses
- 32.5 cents go to racetrack facility renewal account
- 71.5 cents go to local government impact grants
- 26.0 cents go to lottery agency for costs
- 19.5 cents go to Small, Minority and Women-owned Business Account

So, Education would get about 6 cents out of every dollar put into a slot machine. The horse racing industry gets about a penny.
