You are encouraged to register for the Southern Maryland Democratic Summit
to be held next weekend at the Rod 'n Reel in Chesapeake Beach. There will
be registration from 4 to 7 p.m. and a reception Friday, January 8 from 6:30
to 10 p.m. where you will welcomed by Maryland Senate President Mike Miller.
Sen. Mac Middleton and Terry Lierman, Chief of Staff to House Majority
Leader Steny Hoyer will make opening remarks at the continental breakfast
Saturday morning from 8 to 9 a.m. You can also register for the Summit
beginning at 7:30 a.m.
A wide array of elected officials and other Democratic political campaign
veterans will be in attendance throughout the seven sessions scheduled for
Saturday including Sen. Barbara Mikulski and House Majority Leader Steny
Hoyer, Maryland Democratic Party (MDP) Chairman Susie Turnbull, MDP
Executive Director Travis Tazelaar, former Senator Bernie Fowler, Ken Ulman,
County Executive of Howard County, Comptroller Peter Franchot, Attorney
General Doug Gansler, Jason Waskey, Executive Director of Maryland
Organizing for America, Sen. Roy Dyson, and Delegates, John Bohanan, Sue
Kullen, Peter Murphy, Johnny Wood and Joe Vallario,
Immediately after breakfast, former Secretary of State John Willis will
offer his thoughts on voting trends in Southern Maryland and
prognostications on the political future. Sessions will be devoted to the
Maryland Coordinated Campaign and the Rapid Response Team, Save the Bay, the
State of the Economy, Party Building, Fundraising, Grassroots, Candidate
Recruitment, Political Technology Enhancements, State Legislative Issues in
2010 and Campaign Training. Senator Mikulski and Congressman Hoyer will
provide a View from Capital Hill during lunch and Attorney General Gansler
will make brief remarks during the Taste of Southern Maryland dinner buffet
at 5:30 p.m.
