The Board of County Commissioners invites the public and County staff to attend the Annual Remembrance Ceremony to reflect on the tragedies that occurred to our nation on September 11, 2001. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008, at noon, outside of the Potomac Building at the flagpole and the Freedom Garden.

The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the country's largest Iraq veterans' group, looked at 155 Senate votes since Sept.
Republican congressman Wayne T. Gilchrest broke ranks with his party yesterday and endorsed Democrat Frank Kratovil as the candidate he thinks should replace him in Congress in the 1st District.
The endorsement came about seven months after Gilchrest lost a bitter Republican primary to State Sen. Andy Harris in the Eastern Shore district that also includes part of Anne Arundel County.
The County Commissioners for St. Mary’s County have approved an annual growth policy for St. Mary’s County.
“We believe that this new policy will help us to achieve the high quality of life for our residents,” explained President Jack Russell. “We need a growth policy to ensure that the right amount of public infrastructure is in place for our community.”
