The National Student/Parent Mock Election (NSPME) is pleased to announce that the 2008 Mock Election will be carried out -- with the collaboration of Google -- in schools all across Maryland, as well as in all 50 states, Washington D.C., and in American schools overseas. Google will collect all the votes and host the national election headquarters for the NSPME at its Washington, D.C.

This Friday, we'll reach another milestone in this campaign -- the first debate of the general election, on September 26th at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.

Millions of Americans will tune in to watch Barack debate John McCain about America's foreign policy and our role in the world.

The Inauguration of the US President happens in Washington DC.

The Electoral College meets and officially elects the President of the United States.

The polls are open in St. Mary's County from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. If you are in line at 8 p.m., you will still be allowed to vote. Less busy times of day are between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

You can still get an application for an absentee ballot by going IN PERSON to the St. Mary's County Board of Elections in Leonardtown. You can also send a designated representative to get an absentee ballot for you. Contact the Board of Elections for details.
